On behalf of the Society for Emergency Medicine in Singapore (SEMS), I am delighted to invite you to our Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) on 27th and 28th January 2018 at the newest hospital in Singapore, Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.
We aim to provide to create an environment for physicians, nurses, paramedics, allied health medical professionals and medical students who are practitioners of, or simply are interested in, Emergency Medicine to engage in free dialogue among participants and the speakers. This, we hope, will lead to rich discussions, active learning, networking, collaborations and most importantly the establishment of long-term friendships.
The conference's theme is "Transforming Emergency Medicine Practice Today" and will showcase the best that Emergency Medicine has to offer in Singapore and from around the region.
Dr. Yau Ying Wei (Scientific Chair) and I, together with our Teams, have worked to put together a diverse and vibrant program, and are very proud to have secured many eminent speakers both from Singapore and abroad. In fact, our invited foreign speakers range from 5 different countries, encompassing 3 continents, and include:
1) Dr Joshua Broder (USA)
2) Prof William Frank Peacock (USA)
3) Prof Colin Robertson (Edinburgh, UK)
4) Prof Salvatore Di Somma (Rome, Italy)
5) Prof Choi Mai Mau (Taipei, Taiwan) and
6) Wang Tzong Luen (Taipei Taiwan)
Highlights of our educational program will include:
Preconference workshops on Ultrasound, Event Medicine, Crisis Resource Management etc
A total of 10 tracks spanning the vast gamut of topics inherent to the practice of emergency medicine, including Critical Care, Emergency Imaging, Cardiology, EMS, Trauma, Geriatric Medicine, Observational Medicine, Education, Paediatrics, Toxicology, Nursing and Informatics.
Everybody's favourite educational competition, The SIMGames, will be showcased with much bragging rights as well as attractive prizes up for grabs. In fact, as in 2016, we shall have double the fun with two separate competitions- one for clinicians and the other for prehospital teams.
I look forward to welcoming you to this enriching conference and very much hope to see you all there!
